These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of rankeno.com (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms.

1. About the Site

Rankeno is a content website that publishes reviews, scores, and rankings of mobile games and apps. It also offers Rankeno Play (rankeno.com/play), a collection of free browser games with optional player accounts. Rankeno does not offer paid subscriptions.

Reviews and scores reflect our editorial opinions at the time of publication and may be updated.

2. Eligibility

You may use the Site only if you can legally form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, or with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to create a Rankeno Play account.

3. Changes to the Site or Terms

We may modify the Site and these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

4. Intellectual Property

A. Our content

All Site content (including text, design, layouts, logos, and compilation of content) is owned by Rankeno or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You may view and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, modify, create derivative works of, or otherwise exploit Site content without our prior written permission, except as permitted by law.

B. Third-party content and trademarks

App names, game names, icons, screenshots, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. References are for identification and commentary purposes. Nothing on the Site implies endorsement by or affiliation with third-party brands unless explicitly stated.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Site in violation of any law or regulation
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, servers, or related systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Site (e.g., by introducing malware, scraping at abusive rates, or causing excessive load)
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Site (except to the extent permitted by law)
• Use automated means to access the Site in a way that violates robots.txt or otherwise imposes undue burden

We may limit or block access to the Site to protect our services and users.

6. Reviews, Scores, and Disclosures

A. Editorial opinions

Reviews and scores are subjective editorial opinions based on our testing and research. They are provided “as-is” for informational purposes and are not guarantees about performance, safety, or suitability.

B. No affiliation / no endorsements

We are not affiliated with Apple, Google, or any app/game publisher unless explicitly stated. Links to app store listings or official sites are provided for convenience.

C. Disclosures

Store links on Rankeno go through our own /out redirect so we can count the click; no affiliate tag is configured for any store today, so we earn no commission on a purchase.

Every store link goes through our own /out redirect, which records that a click happened (the product, the store and the time) so we can tell which reviews send people to a store. The destination is always the official store listing for the exact product the review is about.

Developers can pay $49 (standard) or $149 (featured consideration) for review consideration and, at the featured level, a featured slot. Payment buys a place in the queue and consideration — never a score, a verdict or a chart position.

We may show advertising. Paid ads are labelled "Sponsored", and house ads say they are ours; advertisers get no say in what we cover or how we score it.

Featured placements are commercial placements, visibly labelled as promotional wherever they appear, and they never reorder a score-ranked list.

What compensation never buys: scores, verdicts, chart position, or placement inside a score-ranked list. Scores are not for sale.

If we ever receive compensation, free products, early access, review codes, or any other “material connection” related to a review, we will disclose it clearly and conspicuously in or near the relevant content.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may link to third-party websites or services (e.g., app stores, publisher sites). We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms and policies.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rankeno and AkalinLabs, LLC (in formation), and their owners, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your violation of these Terms, or
• Your misuse of the Site.

11. Copyright / DMCA

If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, please send a notice to:

• Include: (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its URL, (3) your contact info, (4) a statement of good-faith belief, (5) a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act, and (6) a physical or electronic signature.

We will respond consistent with applicable law.

12. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. To the extent a dispute is permitted to be brought in court, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

14. Rankeno Play (Games and Player Accounts)

The games on Rankeno Play are free to play in your browser, with or without an account. An account lets you keep favorites, appear on leaderboards, and add friends.

A. Your account

• You must be 13 or older and give accurate information. One person per account; do not share or sell accounts.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity on your account. Tell us if you think your account was accessed without permission.
• You can download your data or delete your account at any time from your account page.

B. Player names and fair play

• Player names are public. They must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, or impersonate Rankeno staff or another person.
• Scores must come from real play. Do not modify games, automate play, exploit bugs, submit forged scores, or interfere with other players or with the service.
• Do not harass other players or misuse friend requests.

C. Our rights

We may remove scores, reset leaderboards, rename players, or suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put the service or other players at risk. We may change, add, or retire games and features at any time. Leaderboard positions, scores, and other in-game results have no monetary value.

The games, including their code, artwork, names, and sounds, are our content and are protected under Section 4. You may play them for personal, non-commercial use; you may not copy, re-host, frame, or redistribute them.
