How to play

A one-tap timing game with a spinning target: toss candles into a turning birthday cake without hitting the ones already lit. Light every candle to make a wish, then take on 100 levels of tiered boss cakes, sweets, power-ups and Cupcake Rush bonus rounds.

  1. Tap, click or press Space to toss a candle. It plants at the front of the spinning cake and lights up.
  2. Never hit another candle or a sweet on the rim: a bonk costs a life and that cake starts over.
  3. Light every candle the cake needs and it makes a wish, then the next cake slides in. Finish every cake at the party to clear the level.
  4. Spear berries, land on gold rosettes and grab wrapped bonbons for power-ups like Chill, Sugar Shield and Triple Toss.
  5. You start with 3 lives and can hold 5. Boss cakes and the Wish Star give lives back; the run ends when the last one goes.

About Candle Toss

Candle Toss is a one-tap timing game built around a spinning target: a birthday cake turns on its stand, and every tap throws a candle that plants itself at the front of the cake and lights up. The catch is everything already on the rim. Touch a lit candle or one of the sweets and the candle bonks off, costing a life and restarting that cake with the same layout and the same spin, so you can read it better the second time. Light every candle and the cake makes a wish in a burst of sparkles while the next one slides in. Levels are parties of four to six cakes across 10 chapters, from the Morning Bakery and Strawberry Social through Fudge Factory, Lemon Glaze, Gummy Garden, Velvet Night, Macaron Parade, Sorbet Countdown and Celebration Tower to the Grand Gala. Each chapter adds one new trick: cakes that turn around, stop-and-go spins, glaze that makes candles skid, gummy bears that stroll the rim, candies that pop up, macarons flying across your throw and ice-cream cakes that melt against the clock. Every tenth level is a tiered boss cake whose layers spin their own way, every fifth is a Cupcake Rush bonus, and after level 100 an endless Encore Party mixes it all.

Candle Toss is an original Rankeno Play game, first released in 2026. It runs free in any desktop or phone browser with nothing to install, and every finished run is ranked on the Rankeno Play leaderboards.

Candle Toss tips and strategy

  • Pack candles close together instead of dropping each one into the middle of the biggest gap. Splitting every gap in half leaves slivers too thin for the last candles, while a tight row keeps one big open stretch for the end.
  • A candle that lands within a hair of another one without touching is a CLOSE call worth 25 points times the chapter number, so threading a narrow gap pays even when a wide one is coming.
  • Your flame streak multiplies every candle: ×2 after 8 candles in a row without a bonk, ×3 after 20 and ×4 after 40. A Sugar Shield bonk keeps the streak, a real bonk resets it to ×1.
  • Candles tossed within 0.7 seconds of each other build a RAPID chain that adds 10 points times the chapter from the third one on, but each bonk costs a life and the whole cake, so only rush when the open stretch is wide.
  • Golden glaze makes a candle skid against the spin before it sets, and when the cake has stopped in a stop-and-go spin the candle stays put. On melting sorbet cakes the drip creeping down the front is the clock: the cake starts with two to three seconds for every candle it needs.
  • Wrapped bonbons on the rim hold the power-ups: Chill halves the spin for 6 seconds, Double Sprinkles doubles points for 12 seconds, Firework blasts every sweet off the cake, Triple Toss throws three candles 120 degrees apart and Ghost Candles let the next three slip past anything.

Candle Toss FAQ

What happens when a candle hits another candle in Candle Toss?
It bonks off and you lose one of your lives. The candles on that cake (or that tier of a boss cake) pop off and it starts again with the same layout and the same spin pattern, while every cake you already finished at the party stays done. A Sugar Shield forgives one bonk with no life lost.
How do the tiered boss cakes work?
Every tenth level is a single tall cake with two tiers, or three from level 90 on, each spinning at its own speed and in its own direction. Your tosses take turns between the tiers that still need candles, and the glowing rim and dotted line show which tier the next candle is headed for. Finishing a boss cake gives back a life, up to five.
Is Candle Toss free to play?
