Seashell Run

Race a speedboat down an endless buoy channel

  • Drag up and down (or hold ↑/↓) to steer; the boat follows your finger.
  • Stay between the red buoy lines: each bump costs one of 3 life rings. Hitting an island ends the run.
  • Grab shells: blue 5, gold 15, red 40. Keep collecting within 3 s to chain (×2 from the 11th shell, ×3 from the 21st).

About Seashell Run

Seashell Run is an endless arcade racer. Your speedboat powers forward on its own through a winding channel marked by red buoy lines, and you steer it up and down. Shells are worth 5, 15 or 40 points and multiply during a long chain, while Brake and Magnet charges help through hard stretches. Bumping a buoy line costs one of three life rings, hitting an island ends the run, and the channel narrows and fills with islands the further you go.

Seashell Run was first released for iPhone and iPad in 2013. It has been rebuilt to run in the browser on Rankeno Play, free to play and with leaderboards.

Seashell Run tips and strategy

  • Distance is most of your score: every foot is a point, and your speed climbs with time from 20 mph toward 62 mph, so a clean run beats a risky detour for one shell.
  • Shell trails and pickups are laid along or near a hidden safe line that every island keeps clear of, so following a trail usually keeps you on a passable route.
  • A buoy bump costs a life ring and also resets your chain to ×1, so steering cleanly protects the multiplier as much as the rings.
  • Chains usually break in the gaps between shell trails. A Magnet pulls in shells within about 52 feet for 7 seconds, which can bridge a gap and carry you to ×2 or ×3.
  • Red shells, worth 40, often sit right beside an island or end a trail. Take the island ones only when you are steady, because island contact ends the run whatever rings you have.
  • You can hold five Brake and five Magnet charges, and extras pay only 25 points, so spend them. Brake slows you by up to half for 3 seconds, useful on tight bends.

Seashell Run FAQ

How is the score calculated in Seashell Run?

Your score is the distance in feet plus shell points. Shells are worth 5, 15 or 40, doubled from the 11th shell of a chain and tripled from the 21st, and pickups add 25 or 50 points when your charges or life rings are already full.

How do you get a life ring back in Seashell Run?

Life rings turn up now and then as pickups on the safe route, alongside Brake and Magnet charges. Each one restores a ring up to the maximum of three; if you already have three, it gives 50 points instead.

Is Seashell Run free to play?

Yes. Seashell Run is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.

Can I play Seashell Run on my phone or tablet?

Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the landscape stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: drag up/down to steer; tap BRAKE / MAGNET. On a computer: ↑/↓ or W/S steer; B brake; M magnet.

How do the Seashell Run leaderboards work?

When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; guest scores are not saved. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
