About Physics Drop
Physics Drop is a peg-board score game. You slide a dropper along the top, release a ball and watch it bounce through pegs, bumpers, spinning paddles and multiplier gates into one of nine pockets: eight worth 0 to 250 points and a clover that adds balls. A run starts with ten balls, the pocket values shift after every ball, and a new board layout arrives every five balls.
It grew out of the bonus board in Physics Slots, released for iPhone and iPad in 2012. Rankeno Play rebuilt it as its own game that runs in the browser, free, with leaderboards.
Physics Drop tips and strategy
- On the first two boards the pocket values slide exactly one slot per ball, always the same way on that board, so you can predict where the 250 will be before you aim.
- The multiplier applies only to the pocket value, not to bumper points. A ×3 ball scores 750 in the 250 pocket but nothing in a 0 pocket, so aim for gates above high pockets.
- Lit bumpers stay lit from one ball to the next on the same board, so a set left one bumper short can be finished by the next ball for +100 and an extra ×1.
- Bumper hits pay 10 points each, but only the first 15 hits per ball score, so a ball rattling between bumpers earns at most 150 from hits alone.
- The clover pocket adds two balls only three times per run. After that it becomes a 100 pocket that still takes the ball’s multiplier, so it stays worth hitting.
- From the second board there are two gates, so a ball that passes both and completes the bumper set reaches ×4, which turns a 250 landing into 1000 points.
Physics Drop FAQ
How do you get extra balls in Physics Drop?
Land a ball in the clover pocket. It adds two balls and 25 points times the ball’s multiplier, up to three times per run, so a run can last 16 balls. After the third award that pocket pays 100 times the multiplier instead.
How does the multiplier work in Physics Drop?
Every ball starts at ×1. Each green gate it passes adds ×1, and completing the bumper set adds ×1 once per ball, so the first board allows up to ×3 and later boards up to ×4. The multiplier applies to the pocket the ball lands in.
Is Physics Drop free to play?
Yes. Physics Drop is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.
Can I play Physics Drop on my phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the portrait stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: drag to aim; release to drop. On a computer: ←/→ or A/D to aim; Space, Enter or ↓ to drop.
How do the Physics Drop leaderboards work?
When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; guest scores are not saved. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
