How to play

A road-crossing hopper where Mama Duck rescues lost ducklings that copy her hops a beat behind her, then brings them home to the pond at the end of every level. Cross roads, rivers, railways, ice and parades through 100 levels in 10 chapters, with power-ups and a nosy goose on your tail.

  1. Tap, or press ↑ or Space, to hop forward. Swipe or press ← → ↓ to side-step or hop back.
  2. Land on a lost duckling and it joins your line. Every duckling in tow adds a point to each new row you reach.
  3. Ducklings repeat your hops a beat later, so give the whole line time to clear a lane before the next car comes.
  4. Reach the pond at the end of the level and the line splashes home for a big bonus, without stopping.
  5. A bonk on Mama costs one of your 3 lives. A bonk on a duckling only scatters it and the ducklings behind it.

About Waddle Way

Waddle Way is a lane-crossing arcade game, a hopper in the spirit of the classic road-crossing games, starring Mama Duck in a little blue bonnet. You hop her across country roads, rivers, railway lines, robot-mowed lawns, frozen ponds, market streets, goose territory, night lanes, rainy days and a festival parade: 100 levels in 10 chapters, each ending at a pond you pass without stopping, then endless remixed levels. Every lost duckling you land on falls in behind you and copies your hops 0.16 seconds after the duckling ahead of it, so a long line spends longer in each lane than you do. The traffic gets faster the further you go, and Big Honk, a nosy goose, waddles after anyone who dawdles.

Waddle Way was made for Rankeno Play and first came out in 2026 as an original game. It plays free in any modern browser on a phone or a computer, and every finished walk is ranked on the Rankeno Play leaderboards.

Waddle Way tips and strategy

  • Each new row you reach is worth one point plus one per duckling in your line, times the chapter bonus (1x in chapter 1, rising by half a point each chapter to 5.5x in chapter 10), so a long line makes every hop count.
  • The pond pays 50 points for the first duckling home, 100 for the second, 150 for the third and so on, plus 500 if no duckling was lost on that level, all times the chapter bonus. A line of ten is worth 2,750 before the full-brood bonus, and the Duckling Meadow ponds on every fifth level pay double.
  • Duckling number n crosses a lane n × 0.16 seconds after you do. With six in tow, wait for a gap that stays clear about a second longer than you need yourself.
  • A bonk on a duckling scatters it and every duckling behind it, but you keep the front of the line and all your lives. Only a bonk on Mama, or a nip from Big Honk, costs one of your 3 lives, and you get one back (up to 5) at the pond of every tenth level.
  • Big Honk walks at 0.4 rows per second at the start and speeds up to about 0.95 in the last chapter. He never waits more than six and a half rows behind you, so pausing on a lawn for a good gap is fine as long as you keep the walk moving.
  • Power-ups: the Duck Call pulls ducklings within three tiles to you, the Spring Leap turns your next three forward hops into two-row jumps, the Bubble blocks one bonk, the Snail Clock halves the traffic for 5 seconds, the Whistle brings a scattered line back once, the Golden Feather doubles points for 12 seconds and the rare Golden Egg is an extra life.

Waddle Way FAQ

Why did my ducklings scatter when the car missed Mama in Waddle Way?
Each duckling follows your exact hops a fixed 0.16 seconds later than the one ahead of it, so the back of a long line is still in the lane after you have left it. A vehicle that hits a duckling scatters that duckling and every one behind it; they waddle home, and the ducklings in front stay with you.
Can the ducks swim in Waddle Way?
They can. From chapter 2, river lanes can be swum through: the current drifts you and your line sideways, lily pads are still spots to rest on, logs float along with the current and only nudge you, and the boats are what bonk you.
Is Waddle Way free to play?
Yes. Waddle Way is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.
Can I play Waddle Way on my phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the portrait stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: tap to hop forward; swipe left, right or down to side-step or hop back. On a computer: ↑ / W / Space hop forward, ← → or A / D side-step, ↓ / S hop back (a click hops toward where you click).
How do the Waddle Way leaderboards work?
When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; a run you leave part-way does not count. Played as a guest? Sign in within an hour in the same browser tab and your guest scores are posted too. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
