How to play Zig Drift

Your car races up a zigzag road and every tap flips its drift to the other side. Time each flip to the corner for PERFECT combos, chain ten for nitro, and keep all four wheels near the tarmac.

About Zig Drift

Zig Drift is a one-button driving game seen from above. The road is a chain of straights that alternate between two headings, and your car always drives along one of them; a tap swings it over to the other. Every corner is scored when the turn finishes, by how close your new line sits to the middle of the road: PERFECT, GOOD or WIDE. Chained PERFECTs build a combo, and every tenth one lights nitro. Along the way you meet traffic cones, gems on the centre line, ice patches before corners and narrow wooden bridges over water.

Zig Drift was made for Rankeno Play and first came out in 2026 as one of its originals. You can play it free in a desktop or phone browser without downloading anything, and your best runs compete on the Rankeno Play leaderboards. The scenery rolls from desert to city to snow to a neon night every 1500 m, while the speed keeps climbing for the first 7000 m.

Zig Drift tips and strategy

  • A PERFECT needs roughly 30 milliseconds of timing at any speed. GOOD lets your new line sit up to about a quarter of the road width off centre and keeps your combo, while a WIDE corner resets it to zero.
  • Each PERFECT pays 5 points plus your combo, topping out at 15 per corner. Every tenth PERFECT in a row starts nitro: four seconds at 30 percent more speed with every point doubled, distance and gems included.
  • Cones are never on the PERFECT line, so a cone you clip means your line drifted. Hitting one costs your combo but never your run.
  • On an ice patch the car slides straight on for 0.12 seconds before it starts to turn, so flip a little earlier than usual. Ice appears from 600 m and is far more common in the snow.
  • Bridges shrink the road to 60 percent of its width over water. A GOOD line that hugs one side can roll off the planks, so aim for PERFECT on the corner before every bridge.
  • Gems sit on the centre line and pay 10 points, or 20 during nitro. A quick double tap in the middle of a straight swerves the car out and back, which can recentre a sloppy line before a bridge; keep it short or the swerve carries you off the road.

Zig Drift FAQ

What counts as a PERFECT in Zig Drift?

When the car finishes turning into a new straight, the game measures how far its line is from the middle of that straight. Within the tight PERFECT band, about 30 milliseconds of timing, you score a PERFECT and your combo grows. Further out but still well inside the lane is GOOD, and anything wider is WIDE and resets the combo.

How do you score points in Zig Drift?

You earn 1 point for every 5 m driven, 6 to 15 points for each PERFECT corner depending on your combo, 2 points for a GOOD corner and 10 points per gem. While nitro is running, every one of those is doubled.

Is Zig Drift free to play?

Yes. Zig Drift is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.

Can I play Zig Drift on my phone or tablet?

Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the portrait stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: tap anywhere to flip your drift. On a computer: Space, Enter or ↑ to flip; ← → or A / D to pick a side.

How do the Zig Drift leaderboards work?

When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; guest scores are not saved. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
