How to play

A sumo-style arena game with glossy toy bumpers: stop to charge, flick to dash, and knock every rival off a platform of hex tiles that crumbles from the edge inward. Time your dash to the gold pulse for a MEGA bump, flick back from the brink when you teeter, and climb 100 levels with a boss every tenth.

  1. Drag anywhere to roll (touch), hold the mouse button to roll toward the pointer, or use the arrow keys or WASD.
  2. Let go or hold still to brace: your bumper stops and its ring fills with dash power. A flick (or a click, or Space) dashes, harder the fuller the ring.
  3. Knock every rival off the platform and stay on it yourself. When the full ring flashes gold, dash right then for a MEGA bump.
  4. If you slip over the edge you teeter for a moment: flick back toward the middle to hop to safety.
  5. After 20 to 32 seconds the outer tiles start to crack and drop, so the fight always moves inward. Roll over crates for power-ups.

Controls

  • Arrows or WASD roll
  • Release them to brace and charge
  • Space dashes (hold Space to brace and aim with the arrows, release to dash)
  • Mouse: hold to roll toward the pointer, click to dash at it
  • P or Esc to pause

On a touchscreen: Drag anywhere to roll (a floating stick); hold still or lift your thumb to charge; flick to dash; tap to dash where your bumper faces.

About Bumper Ring

Bumper Ring is a last-one-standing bumper game in the sumo tradition. Every level is a single round on a platform of hex tiles: glossy toy bumpers bonk into one another, and whoever leaves the tray is out. Braking is how you load a dash, so every push is a small trade-off between standing still to charge and rolling away from danger. Once the round is 20 to 32 seconds old the edge starts to crumble tile by tile, which drags every fight toward the middle. The 100 levels run through ten chapters, Tin Tray, Ice Rink, Lily Pads, Conveyor Works, Pinball Bumpers, Rotating Disc, Windy Peak, Magnet Lab, Lava Rocks and The Grand Ring, and each one changes the floor under you with slippery ice, water gaps, belts, pop-bumpers, a turning disc, gusts, magnets or geysers. Rivals get quicker and smarter as you climb, eight power-up crates unlock along the way, levels ending in 5 are Pin Sweep bonus rounds and every tenth level brings a boss.

Rankeno Play launched Bumper Ring in 2026 as one of its own original games. It plays free in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, with no app or download, and a finished run can be entered on the ranked Rankeno Play leaderboards.

Bumper Ring tips and strategy

  • A bumper that stands still fills its dash ring in 0.8 seconds, while rolling fills it at only a third of that rate. Brake a moment before you go in, because a flick on an almost empty ring just fizzles.
  • When the ring is full it flashes gold for 0.2 seconds out of every 0.8. A dash inside that flash is a MEGA bump: 20 % faster, it shoves 35 % harder and it is worth 100 extra points if the rival goes off.
  • Knock-offs in one round pay 100, then 200, then 300 and so on, times the chapter bonus that grows by half a step per chapter up to ×5.5 (×6 in the endless levels). Two knock-offs within 1.5 seconds pay double and three pay triple, so bank rivals that are already wobbling near the edge.
  • Over the edge you get 0.45 seconds of teetering, and 0.4 seconds above water on Lily Pads. A dash from the brink always works, even on an empty ring, and hops you back without knocking anyone, so flick toward the middle at once.
  • Every marble you roll over adds 6 % to your weight, up to two and a half times your starting heft. Heavier bumpers are harder to push around but slower to steer, and rivals collect marbles too, so watch the big ones.
  • Tiles that are about to drop glow and shake for 1.2 seconds first. Line up your shots so the rival ends up on a glowing tile, and keep your own back to solid floor.

Bumper Ring FAQ

What happens when my bumper falls off in Bumper Ring?
You lose one of your lives and replay the same level with a fresh layout. A run starts with three lives and can hold up to five: beating a boss gives one back, and from level 15 a rare Extra Life crate can appear. On levels 1 to 3 two rim springs per round bounce you back onto the tray, and the Shield power-up (from level 7) does the same once.
Which power-ups and special levels are there?
Crates bring Heavy from level 1, Speed from level 2, Spring Shell from level 4, Shield from level 7, Anchor from level 11, Extra Life from level 15, Shrink Ray from level 21 and Mega Charge from level 31. Levels 5, 15, 25 and so on are 25-second Pin Sweep bonus rounds where falling costs no life, and levels 10 to 100 end each chapter with a boss such as Big Tin Top, Frog King or The Grand Bumper; lose to a boss twice and it slows its attacks and, if it brought more than one helper, leaves one at home.
Is Bumper Ring free to play?
Yes. Bumper Ring is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.
Can I play Bumper Ring on my phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the portrait stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: drag anywhere to roll (a floating stick); hold still or lift your thumb to charge; flick to dash; tap to dash where your bumper faces. On a computer: Arrows or WASD roll; release them to brace and charge; Space dashes (hold Space to brace and aim with the arrows, release to dash); mouse: hold to roll toward the pointer, click to dash at it.
How do the Bumper Ring leaderboards work?
When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; a run you leave part-way does not count. Played as a guest? Sign in within an hour in the same browser tab and your guest scores are posted too. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
