How to play

A pipe puzzle against the clock: lay the next pipe from the queue and join the tap to the drain before the water runs out of pipe. Loop through crosses for double points, flush a finished route for a bonus, and clear 100 levels across ten chapters of reservoirs, valves, lava, juice blenders and beam pads.

  1. Tap a square to lay the pipe at the front of the queue. The next two pipes wait beside it, and pipes never rotate.
  2. Tap a pipe the water has not reached yet to swap it for the front pipe. Each swap costs a short wait.
  3. Join the tap to the drain before the water runs out of pipe. From level 4 the drain opens only after the number on it counts down to zero, one for each tile the water fills.
  4. Once every route is finished, press FLUSH (or tap the drain) to rush the water through for double points.
  5. A leak costs a life and you play the level again on a fresh board. Lose the last life and the run is over.

Controls

About Flow Panic

Flow Panic is a pipe puzzle in the classic pipe-laying style: water leaves a tap a few seconds after the level starts, and you have to build it a route to the drain out of whatever pipe comes next in the queue. You see three pipes at a time and lay them in order, with no rotating, so the real skill is deciding where an awkward piece goes. The water speeds up as the pressure gauge climbs, while every ten tiles filled in a level push the points per tile from x1 up to x4. When the water reaches an open end it drips for a moment before it spills, so a pipe laid in that moment still saves the level. The ten chapters, Garden Hose, Kitchen, Greenhouse, Factory, Lava Pipes, Ice Pipes, Juice Works, Space Station, Neon Plumbing and Master Works, each add one new piece of plumbing: reservoirs that hold the flow, glass overpasses, one-way valves, hot tiles that melt a pipe laid too early, twin springs, coloured juices with a blender, beam pads and pump surges.

Flow Panic is an original game made for Rankeno Play and first released in 2026. It runs free in any modern browser on a phone or a computer. Every board is built solvable, because the generator carves a working route from each tap to its drain before it places a single stone. Every fifth level is a Fountain Round with golden water where tiles pay triple and a leak costs no life, every tenth is a Pressure Test with a longer route that hands back a life, and level 100 opens three taps at once. After that the levels keep coming at full difficulty with the chapters remixed, and each run is ranked on the Rankeno Play leaderboards.

Flow Panic tips and strategy

  • Build long when you can. Points per tile step up from x1 to x4 at 10, 20 and 30 tiles in a level, and the drain itself pays 100 points times the chapter number times the current step, so a winding route that still makes the drain is worth far more than the shortest one.
  • A cross piece filled twice pays double the second time and counts twice toward the number on a locked drain, so loop the water back through it when the drain still needs tiles.
  • Park pieces you cannot use in a far corner, away from where the route will run. Swapping a laid pipe costs a pause of up to about half a second, unless you hold the Wrench, which gives three swaps with no wait.
  • When the water reaches an open end, the end drips and a ring shrinks around it. Lay a fitting pipe before the ring closes for a CLOSE! save worth 50 points times the chapter number. Only the first two saves in a level pay, and each one shortens the next window by a quarter.
  • Press FLUSH the moment it lights up. The water runs six times faster and every flushed tile scores double, and on lava levels it gets the water over the hot tiles before a waiting pipe melts. A finished route left alone speeds up on its own after 1.5 seconds, but pays no bonus.
  • Run the water through the bubbles on the board to collect them: Slow Flow, a Wrench, a Bomb that clears one stone or pipe, Preview +2, a Reservoir pipe that holds the flow for three seconds, three Smart Pipes that bend to fit, or an extra life up to five. A level with no swaps and no saves adds a 200-point clean bonus times the chapter number.

Flow Panic FAQ

What does the number on the drain mean in Flow Panic?
It is the drain lock, used from level 4 on. The drain stays shut until the water arriving there has filled that many tiles, so a straight dash to it fails and you need a longer route, or a loop through a cross, which counts twice. If the water reaches a drain that is still locked, it spills there like at any other open end.
What happens when the water leaks in Flow Panic?
You lose one life and play the same level again on a fresh board. If you need a third try at one of the first 100 levels, that board is gentler: the drain asks for three fewer tiles and the tap waits an extra second and a half. A leak in a Fountain Round costs no life and moves you on to the next level. Losing your final life ends the run.
Is Flow Panic free to play?
Yes. Flow Panic is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.
Can I play Flow Panic on my phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the portrait stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: press a square to see the pipe there and lift your finger to lay it; slide away to cancel; tap FLUSH or the drain to flush. On a computer: Mouse: click a square to lay or swap the next pipe, click FLUSH or the drain to flush; arrow keys move the cursor; Space or Enter lays the pipe; F flushes.
How do the Flow Panic leaderboards work?
When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; a run you leave part-way does not count. Played as a guest? Sign in within an hour in the same browser tab and your guest scores are posted too. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
