How to play

Rollwave is a 3D ball rolling game on a neon track that floats over an empty synthwave sky: slide to steer, tap to hop the gaps and roll all the way round the glowing tubes. The speed climbs for the whole run across 100 levels in ten chapters, so chain orbs for a ×8 multiplier and make your three lives last.

  1. The ball rolls by itself and keeps getting faster. Slide your thumb, move the mouse or hold ← → to steer it across the track.
  2. Tap, click or press Space to hop over gaps, holes, low hurdles and low lasers. Tall pillars have to be steered around.
  3. Collect orbs one after another to build your multiplier up to ×8. Missing two in a row on the line you are riding resets it.
  4. Roll through the ring at the end of each level without slowing down. Falling off the track or hitting a block costs one of your three lives.
  5. Grab power-ups as they appear: Magnet, Shield, Score ×2, Hover, Phase and Time Warp.

Controls

  • ← → or A / D to steer
  • Space, ↑ or W to hop
  • P or Esc to pause

On a touchscreen: Slide to steer; tap or flick up to hop.

About Rollwave

Rollwave is a 3D endless runner in which you guide a glass ball down a glowing grid track hanging in a synthwave sky, with a striped sun on the horizon and nothing but empty space below the edges. The ball rolls on its own at about 58 km/h, reaches roughly 156 km/h after five minutes and keeps climbing toward 259 km/h; falling off, dropping through a hole or hitting a block costs a life, and the ball is back on the track at once, at the same speed, as a ghost for a second and a half. One run is a non-stop ride through 100 levels in ten chapters: Sunset Grid, Glass Gaps, Pulse Blocks, Neon Tubes, Wire Beams, Split Paths, Laser Lattice, Skyjump, Flip Side and Overdrive. Each chapter adds something new, from holes in the grid and sliding blocks to tubes you can roll all the way round, narrow beams, forks, low and high lasers, ramps to floating islands and flip pads that throw you onto a second deck overhead. Levels 5, 15, 25 and so on are orb-filled bonus stretches, levels 10, 20, 30 and so on are Warp Runs lined with boost pads, and after level 100 the chapters come back mixed together as endless levels.

Rollwave is an original game made for Rankeno Play and released in 2026. It plays free in desktop and mobile browsers with nothing to download, and finished runs are ranked on the Rankeno Play leaderboards, where every score starts from level 1.

Rollwave tips and strategy

  • A hop keeps you in the air for 0.7 seconds and clears low hurdles and full-width gaps. You can still hop for about 0.09 seconds after rolling off an edge, and a tap made up to 0.12 seconds before you land hops again the moment you touch down.
  • Orbs pay 10 points times your multiplier. The multiplier steps up to ×2 after 5 orbs in a row, ×3 at 12, ×4 at 22, ×5 at 35, ×6 at 50 and ×8 at 70; four seconds without an orb drops it one step. Gold orbs are worth five times as much, and the pink prism orbs on jump arcs lift the multiplier a whole step.
  • Hop on a ramp or in the instant after its lip for SUPER AIR. Every tenth of a second you stay airborne beyond 0.7 seconds earns 10 points times your multiplier, and you keep a little steering in the air to line up the landing.
  • Passing a pillar with less than 0.3 metres to spare scores a CLOSE bonus of 25 times your multiplier, threading a one-lane gap between pillars above 45 m/s pays 50 times it, and so does a hop taken in the very last instant before a gap.
  • Every run begins with three lives, and up to five can be banked. Your first crash on levels 1 to 3 is forgiven, clearing three levels in a row without losing a life gives one back, so does finishing a Warp Run cleanly, and each bonus level hides a heart crystal near one edge of the track.
  • Each level gate pays 25 points times the level, doubled if you lost no life on it, and a clean Warp Run adds 500 plus 50 per level. Low cyan lasers are hopped, but the red ones hang at hop height, so roll under those without jumping.

Rollwave FAQ

How do I hop in Rollwave without steering by accident?
On a phone a quick tap, lifted within about a fifth of a second without sliding, is a hop and never moves the ball sideways; only sliding your finger steers. A fast flick upward hops before you even lift your finger, and holding a finger still for a moment steers the ball toward that side. With a mouse the ball follows the pointer and a click hops, and on a keyboard the arrow keys steer while Space hops.
When do the power-ups in Rollwave unlock?
Magnet appears on level 1 and pulls in orbs for 8 seconds. Shield arrives on level 3 and saves you from one crash, Score ×2 on level 6 doubles everything for 10 seconds, Hover on level 11 floats you over gaps for 5 seconds, Phase on level 21 lets you roll through blocks and lasers for 5 seconds, and Time Warp on level 31 slows the whole world for 4 seconds.
Is Rollwave free to play?
Yes. Rollwave is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.
Can I play Rollwave on my phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the portrait stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: slide to steer; tap or flick up to hop. On a computer: ← → or A / D to steer; Space, ↑ or W to hop.
How do the Rollwave leaderboards work?
When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; a run you leave part-way does not count. Played as a guest? Sign in within an hour in the same browser tab and your guest scores are posted too. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
