NIYA: Memory Path

Memorize the safe path, then walk it blind

  • Memorize the board while the countdown runs: blue START, green FINISH, red tokens cost a life.
  • Tokens hide when the countdown ends or the moment you take your first step; starting early earns a memory bonus.
  • Walk to FINISH one circle at a time. Green gems +60, the purple orb makes the challenge ×1.5, a black swirl teleports you to a safe circle.

About NIYA: Memory Path

NIYA: Memory Path is a memory puzzle played on a grid of circles. Each challenge shows the board for a few seconds: a blue START, a green FINISH, red tokens that cost a life, green gems, a purple orb and black teleport swirls. Then the tokens hide and you walk to FINISH one circle at a time from memory. Boards grow from 5×4 to 9×7 circles and fill with more red as you climb.

NIYA began in 2012 as NIYA: Memory Challenge, a game for iPhone and iPad. NIYA: Memory Path rebuilds it to run in the browser on Rankeno Play, free and with leaderboards, keeping the original’s glossy circles, blue START and green FINISH.

NIYA: Memory Path tips and strategy

  • Each second left on the countdown when you start earns 15 points, against 10 per bonus-timer second, so start early once the route is fixed, but never on a guess that could halve the challenge.
  • Every board has a red-free route from START to FINISH. Trace one and memorize it as a list of moves, such as up two, right three, instead of trying to hold every red token.
  • Gems and the orb usually sit off the safe route. A gem adds a flat 60, but the orb multiplies the whole challenge by 1.5, so on later boards it is the detour worth learning.
  • After a red token the board stays visible through the fail screen and intro. Check the circles around the one you hit, since each retry cuts the countdown by 30 percent, to 2 seconds minimum.
  • Circles you have stepped on stay marked and FINISH keeps pulsing during the walk, so backtracking along your own trail is safe, and bumping the board edge costs only a moment of bonus time.
  • Swirls appear from challenge 5, never on the safe route. One sends you to a far-off circle the board does not mark in advance, though it always has a red-free path to FINISH.

NIYA: Memory Path FAQ

How do you get a life back in NIYA?

A life comes back each time your count of cleared challenges reaches a multiple of five, at the 5th, 10th, 15th and so on, but only while you have fewer than three. A red token costs one life, and the run ends when none are left.

How is a challenge scored in NIYA?

Challenge points (100 on the first challenge, plus 50 for each one after, up to 2,050) are added to 10 points per second left on the bonus timer, 15 per second of countdown you skipped and 60 per gem. The sum is divided by the attempt number and multiplied by 1.5 if you took the orb.

Is NIYA: Memory Path free to play?

Yes. NIYA: Memory Path is free on Rankeno Play and runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install. You can play straight away as a guest; a free account is only needed to save scores to the leaderboards.

Can I play NIYA: Memory Path on my phone or tablet?

Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers, and the square stage scales to fit your screen. On a touchscreen: swipe on the board or tap the D-pad; tap GO to start early; tap a neighbouring circle to step. On a computer: Arrow keys / WASD to step; Space or Enter to start early and to continue; mouse: click the D-pad.

How do the NIYA: Memory Path leaderboards work?

When you are signed in, every finished run is submitted automatically; guest scores are not saved. Boards rank one best score per player (highest points first) for Today, This week and All time, globally or among your friends. Today and This week reset at midnight UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
